- "God of Manga" Osamu Tezuka launched seminal boy robot Tetsuwan Atom aka Astro Boy in 1952. "Dirty Uncle of Manga" Go Nagai created the pioneer cockpit-piloted robot Mazinger Z in 1972 - which was also the year he created influential horror hero Devilman. The Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum will hold a special exhibition from Oct. 26, offering a retrospective look at Japan's robot manga classics, honoring these anniversaries.
The museum decided to hold the exhibition, which runs through next February, in 2012 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Go Nagai's Mazinger Z and Devilman and the 60th anniversary of the serialization of Astro Boy. Thirteen manuscripts from Astro Boy, 26 from Mazinger Z and 20 from the Devilman manga series will be on display at the venue.
67-year-old Go Nagai credits Tezuka's Lost World as the work that inspired him to become a manga artist. Furthering his association with Tezuka, he's recently written a crossover with his demon hunting prince of hell Dororon Enma-kun meeting Tezuka's cursed, yokai hunting swordsman Hyakkimaru from Dororo. Manuscripts for the new work will be displayed ahead of its serialization, along with a look at the original Dororo and Enma-kun. | |

| Very interesting. I'd like to see the Dororo x Enma-kun crossover. | |
