It's one of these conspiracy theories again. I read something similar about Captain Tsubasa (big fan) and it involved something about the protagonist that he wasn't really playing football, but only dreaming it in a coma after he lost his legs in a car accident. It was crazy, and people actually believed it.

As for for series like the two mentioned, I'd like to believe in these theories. as both Pokemon and captain Tsubasa became extremely boring a very long time ago. I think this is due to that they just kept ''squeezing the lemon'' right after the series became huge hits.
