For me (jfgslo), this is the very best of all Super Robot anime of Go Nagai. From all the sacrifices made to find Mazinkaiser, to the struggling battle of Tetsuya and to the sheer awesomeness of the full power of Mazinkaiser. This is how Mazinkaiser should have been portrayed since the beginning, a true God or Demon capable of withstand anything and destroying with ease its enemies, although still not in the level of its Super Robot Wars Counterpart. One of my favorite moments comes when Mazinkaiser uses Kaiser Scrander as a boomerang. I truly cannot express how much I like this anime. From the beginning the story sets the tone with the death of Lorry and Roll and the theme The Gate of the Hell sets the pace for what's to come, while Majin Kenzan!! sets the big turn around when Mazinkaiser arrives to the Earth.
